"Among the fifteen variables related to leadership, the factor with the strongest correlation to the overall quality and growth of a church, is the readiness to accept help from the outside."
Christian Schwarz, Natural Church Development, p.23

Six reasons for using a consultant:

1. The landscape and environment have changed. Ministering in our present culture is much different than it was just twenty years ago.

2. Pastors and church leaders realize that they have not been trained in strategic planning. Very few Bible schools and seminaries provide instruction in this key area of leadership.

3. The day-to-day demands of ministry often prevent pastors and church leaders from devoting time to organize, develop, and implement processes a church consultant can provide.

4. Leaders are seeing the benefit of an objective third party.

5. Frustrated with a plateaued or declining church, leaders are more open than ever for seeking professionally trained outside help.

6. Many church attenders come from the professional world where strategic planning and accountability are fundamental business practices. They expect their church to approach their mission with that same level of excellence and attention to planning.
